          Dear Hem,

Thanks for the reply actually i've gone through with all the mentioned steps but still the result is same, let me elaborate little more.

our server is behind the firewall the first problem i've faced is that i wasn't able to see the clients behind the firewall i mean to days they didn't appear into the workgroup even we've opened all the ports mentioned by mcafee but noting happend then i asked the proxy guy to remove our server from proxy so they bypass our server from proxy as well after that epo server started downloading the updates but always shows failed i'll ask my client to send me the

EpoApsvr.log i'll upload the file as soon as i receive the file but mean while if there is any other steps of troubleshooting please advise.

          Regards,

          Omer

              Hi umer_javed,

could you please try the same with unchecking "use a proxy server" in Internet explorer on the ePO server? You wrote that proxy guy allowed your server to bypass the proxy (so your firewall accepts server IP). Please also check if port 8801 (beside port 80 for updates) and *.avertlabs.com URL are allowed through in the firewall (from your ePo server).

              Attila

                Hi Attila,

Thanks for the answer but from our proxy server the site for avertlabs.com is allowed and port is also allowed from firewall, i even can browse the website from the server and its working is there any way that McAfee can assist us online at site engineer skype ID is zubair.shaikh78 and he is available from 9:00am to 5:00pm time zone GMT +3:00 Country Bahrain since this issue is taking long time and becoming a big issue.

                Regards,

                  Hi...

If you need this level of support you'll need to open a case with Support - we're not able to provide support like that on an informal basis, sorry

Additionally, please be aware that you've posted open contact details on a public forum. If you do get any contact from anyone, please be very thorough in confirming that they are in fact a McAfee employee.

                  Regards -

                  Joe

                    Dear Joe,

Thanks alot for the informaiton but any how i've sorted out the issue the first provided method was perfect but from our customer site their engineers were updating me by saying that they've opened the proxy and allowed everthing eventhough they've done nothing so i myself logged into their server though Team Viewer and saw nothing was done after changing the proxy settings there just a service restart and it was working fine although all informative message from all above guys were so much help full to troubleshoot in the future.

                    Regards,

                      Hi Omer,

my suggestion was meant to circumvent long investigations for the cause for an error message in the log you provided, stating "failed to find host for HTTP proxy". I did not mean to doubt that your proxy allows the proper traffic, though I was not very unambigous explaining why I suggest the move I did. I am sorry for that.

Seeing that you rePO can bypass the proxy properly tells me that you are allowed through the firewall on the stated port and URL.

So please could you try what I suggested, after all? just for me to be reassured . thanks.

                      Attila

                        Hi Attila,

Well i appreciate your efforts since i wasn't alow aware of real scenario at the customer site i was also posting their comments every thing was fine i just enabled the proxy from McAfee server and restarted the service and it started working after that..... so now the problem has be solved i believe no more troubleshoot is required and on firewall all the ports are open related to McAfee.

                        Regards,
