Can you post the full message. Some posts imply that file can be taken over by malware. Have you had any infections recently ie false AV popups?
Only initial thought try runnin getsusp and see if it finds anything suspect
If you think you have a virus infection on your PC do one or both of the following :
- Run the free Mcafee Stinger program from http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ -
set it to Report Mode (in Preferences) and post the logs of anything it detects.( set it to very high sensitivity)
Download here latest version of getsusp https://community.mcafee.com/thread/32269
Before you use Getsusp, you should go to this document
and download the PDF file explaining what Getsusp is and how it works, and this document
which downloads the installation guide PDF document.
It uploads suspect files to Mcafee. Ensure in preferences you add your email address so they can update u
I also get a ld Something message when I try to use Mcafee and I have two win32.exe files in the running programs, now I am just guessing, but will check and get some facts for you. So far it has just shut down Mcafee and won't let me set up my printers (2 wireless). be back soon.
failed ldispatch is what I get when I scan. The program that is listed in the runtime error is C:\windows\system32\dllhost.exe.. under this link is a message: This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. When I try to print anything I get com surragate has stopped working. Because of the problem with Mcafee failed ldispatch I can't really trust the history summory. But it says last night It found 5 trojans, but nothing about what happened to them, everything else has 0's 0 fixed. I have already tried Stinger. I have found some stuff on it that I am still sifting through, one is a worm that does this kind of damage. I will let you know more about what I learn and if anything works.
Thanks for all the help, but I have or had bigger problems then I thought. I don't know if I am totally nuts or everything is supposed to be listed in windows explorer under Desktop. Now under computer Acer C: windows, the desktop file is empty, but under Russell (user name) and windows the desktop files are there. Its like I have a disk with more then one operating system on it. The problems began when I decided to start programing HTML again and also program QT and mono and I downloaded a bunch of SDK's to use and to choose the best editor, compiler ext. I noticed some were loading to the C: drive but wasn't alarmed because the QT and some other programing today can be done in windows, but I never programmed under windows, except HTML and at one time had over 300 web-sites that I created over the years. So I thought some must install to the C: drive, but after I installed the registry items you gave me, I got back the ldispatch and McAfee ran, but didn't find and problems. So I went into windows explorer and maybe I am just to old for this stuff or win 7 is quite different. Because I think it should be Desktop with my computer, and user name all at the head of the tree not just desktop. So I have to do some home work and straighten my file system out. Thanks again.
mine is under users/pcname/desktop. Also when explorer opens desktop shown at top of left column under favourites then downloads then recent places. There is then a gap and desktop reshown with libraries under it
