General Troubleshooting When DATs Don't Update

What do you guys generally do in a VSE/ePO environment when DATs stop updating on a client? We generally fix this by reinstalling the agent, but I wonder if there is a less invasive and better first step to try before going this route. How about when a system is not reporting defs at all (or other properties). What's the best practice here?

First analyze the Update.log on the client machine location - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\McAfee\DesktopProtection\UpdateLog.txt.

Check the the agent to server communication port is not blocked or windows firewall is enable.

And check you have update task created in client task in ePO.

If you are having a small network, I recommend to enable global update in ePO
