Youy may need to make hidden files and folders visible. Open any Windows Explorer page such as Computer>C: drive go to Tools/Folder Optiions/View and click 'Show hidden files and folders'.

Remove it from the spot you misplaced it.
That FAQ states:
Copy the EXTRA.DAT into the same folder where avvclean.dat, avvnames.dat, and avvscan.dat are stored. For example:
(where xxxx.x is the DAT version number)
Note: For Windows Vista (or 7) computers, the directory is: C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\VirusScan\DAT\xxxx.x.
You may first have to disable Access protection in SecurityCenter > Navigation > general Settings and Alerts. In which cas don't forget to re-ebale it afterwards.
okay i did it but now mcafee finds new virus Generic.Tra!..(numbers). I sent file back to webimmune but didnt get any answer. it has been almost a week
