I have on my computer, Exploit:Java/CVE-2010-0840.BV

I have occasionally run the windows live onecare scanner, for the past couple of years. For the first time it has found a malware problem. Called Exploit:Java/CVE-2010-0840.BV (servere status)

McAfee does't concur the problem. Should I be??

I trust you mean the online Windows Live OnceCare scan?   Having 2 antivirus applications installed can cause problems.

This is a detection indicating that you may need to update Java - http://www.java.com/en/

Try a scan with an independent anti-malware application such as the FREE version of THIS tool.

Update it before running and let it remove anything it finds and reboot if asked to at the end.

It's a useful tool to keep around as long as it's kept updated as antivirus applications don't always catch everything, I hate to admit.

Also keep Windows totally up to date at all times.
