    need help with installation

      I am having trouble install  mcafee internet security 2011, After excepting the license aggreement installation begins but soon i will get a Dr watson and everything with close.

      Any help would be appreaciated.

            You can try following these steps:


            1. Uninstall if there is any existing security software.
            2. Manually disable script debugging in Internet Explorer by following the below steps:

            Start Internet Explorer.

            On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

            On the Advanced tab, under the Browsing section, click to select the Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer) check box and the Disable script debugging (Other) check box if it is present.

            Click OK, and then restart your computer

            3. Download and run the McAfee Pre-Install Tool using the below link and then try the McAfee product installation:

            http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/McPreInstall.e xe

            Operating System: (Windows XP/ Vista / Windows 7)

            Browser Version: (IE 7 / IE 8 / IE 9 / Firefox / Google Chrome)

            McAfee Product: (Total Protection / Internet Security / Virus Scan / McAfee Security Scan)

              Tried those suggestions, even tried installing it in safe mode, still get the same issue.

              Application log is showing following error


              Event ID 1000

              Faulting application install.exe, version, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.5781, fault address 0x00012afb.

                It appears like the installation it getting interrupted due to some issues related to the Operating System.

                You can run the Windows File Checker utility (SFC) with the following command sfc /scannow

                (Navigation: Open Run box on the Start Menu and type in sfc /scannow )


                The main reason for using this utility is when we suspect there may be a problem with a Windows system file.
                You will get the below dialog box appear informing you of a problem with a .dll file. You may be asked to insert the original windows Disk in order to replace the missing or corrupted file.
