Try to uninstall via Add/Remove programs and reboot the computer. Go to useful links at the top of this page and run the MCPR removal tool and reboot again. Then please follow the suggestions in this link to install your software http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?lc=1033&id=TS100119

As suggested, I have uninstalled the antivirus and reinstalled it after rebooting the PC. But to no avail. As suggested by one of my friends, I have also downloaded the antivirus 2011 from the site and tried to activate it from there but nothing is happening.

Yes, I have a similar problem. I could install the antivirus 2011 on my laptop, but it could not connect to McAfee download server on my desktop computer (Windows 7 SP1). The message shows "the server is unavailable".
