Take a look at the local agent log for errors.
On the client machine search for:
Where <machinename> is the local machine name.
Then you can research any error messages on the McAfee Knowledge Base via the 'Search the Knowledge Base' link here:
You may want to go to your ckient right click on the McAfee Icon and check the status monitor and monitor the agent traffic
You should try to deploy one of the latest Agent version.
When you tell the agent to manually send properties does it say that it is unable to talk to the server? Just today while testing an install script I managed to break my McAfee install in such a way that not only did I need to run c:\program files\mcafee\common framework\frminst /remove=agent, I also had to go to add/remove programs and uninstall VirusScan Enterprises and then the EPO agent. After that I was able to reinstall without issue and also push out VSE 8.8 from the EPO server to my computer.
Thanks for the tip, but I can't seem to located the log. I did a search but no results. It's a 2003 server, what is the exact path to the log?
The icon is not there and when I try to launch Mctray.exe it doesn't do anything. Any ideas how I can get this launched?
I performed, collect and send props, send events, check new policies, enforce policies, etc. and everytime it performs those actions alough when it comes to sending events, it just says, sending events...
The log is on the path of the user profiles, so it can vary from machine to machine.
This is why it's simpler to search for it. You can try the all users profile first though:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\McAfee\Common Framework\DB
n.b. to manually send properties from the client:
C:\Program Files\McAfee\Common Framework\CmdAgent.exe /P
Or to see the agent monitor window:
C:\Program Files\McAfee\Common Framework\CmdAgent.exe /S
Then use the buttons to do the same.
This is all in the agent product guide too, if you don't have a copy all product guides are searcheable for free on the McAfee Knowledge base:
