    System Tool

      Hi Guys

have just joined and seem to have the same problem that my system has become infected with a Systems Tools virus. As a result not able to run anything. Have restarted in safe mode with networking and run a full McAfee scan, but this has not picked up the virus. Not sure what to do now, as I had macafee running in backgraound when this virus crept through.

Any ideas, can anyone please suggest something.

Thanks guys for the info. Have done the restore and reloaded McAfee all seems ok now. Not sure how or why McAfee does not recognise this as a malicious piece of software.

Anyway, many thanks for your help.

Camber, that's great.  McAfee isn't alone in not recognizing fake anti-malware, none of the antivirus applications do.  It's because of the way they work.  That's why these specialist tools such as MalwareBytes (free) are so useful to keep around.

Juts keep Windows up to date and be careful what and where you click and you should be OK.
