I would check in your Windows folder for a file called SetupAPI.log
You should be able to match up the [date time stamp] with the insertion of the device, and then follow what your system is trying to do with it. If nothing shows in this log, it's probably a hardware problem.
As you suggested, I took a look at the setupapi.log and found the following:
#W154 Class installer failed. Error 0xe0000202: An existing device was found that is a duplicate of
the device being manually installed.
Do I need to deinstall a previous device and/or drivers to proceed?
I am troubleshooting a similar issue. The Encrypted USB memory stick is not recognized when I plug it into the computer. The "locked" partition shows up and a CD Drive appears but it seems that the actual "application" partition is not being recognized.
Mark_knight, are you seeing a similar symptom?
If someone can provide an update on this issue would be great .
