No AV Update with new AV Engine

    sec-wartung

      Hi,

we are using McAfee Web Gateway 6.8.7-9396 and updated the AV Engine to Version "SCANM7111.2039.2754". The Web-GUI tolds us that the update status is "new engine is succesfully loaded", but the Anti Virus Engine cannot load.

      Anti Virus Engine                                                                Update Status
Cannot load McAfee Gateway Anti-Malware Engine          New engine loaded successfully. (Tue Feb 1 09:34:59 2011)

      The error.log shows the following:

[01/Feb/2011:09:34:59 +0100] McAfee Gateway Anti-Malware Engine: Cannot load McAfee V2 at "/opt/webwasher-csm/conf/antivirus/SCANM7111.2039.2754/liblnxfv.so.4" due to error code 0

[01/Feb/2011:09:36:08 +0100] Can not call McAfee Gateway Anti-Malware Engine (failed to load).

Can anyone help. How can we fix the bug?

At the moment we can't surf the Internet because Web Gateway prints an error message ("No anti virus engine loaded")

      Thanks

      Best regards,

      Janine

          Hello,

maybe a restart is already enough to load the engine successfully. Did you already try this?

If this does not help it may be helpful to move all foldersfrom /opt/webwasher-csm/conf/antivirus to a different location, restart the Webwasher proxy and re-load all updates.

Since this issue sounds rather important I would defintiely recommend to call support or file a Service Request. This should always be the first thing to do if you have a critical issue with Webwasher/MWG.

          Best,

          Andre

            Hi,

a restart and a move of folders does not help. Is it possible that web gateway needs 32bit os version? The engine can not load due to this error:

McAfee Gateway Anti-Malware Engine: Cannot load McAfee V2 at "/opt/webwasher-csm/conf/antivirus/SCANM7111.2039.2754/liblnxfv.so.4" due to error code 2

McAfee Gateway Anti-Malware Engine: failed to load MFE base API in '/opt/webwasher-csm/conf/antivirus/SCANM7111.2039.2754'

            Regards,

            Janine

              Hello,

Webwasher 6.x is only tested and supported on 32 bit platforms.

However, is there any chance to get a feedback of the affected installation so that we can have a look? Is there already a Service Request opened with Support?

              Best,

              Andre

                Hi,

I have found out that's a problem of 64 bit os. I have installed a 32 bit version and it works. I don't know that web gateway was only supported and tested on 32 bit so I have installed it on a 64 bit os. It works until yesterday. Thanks for your help.

                Regards,

                Janine
