If you can't do anything in regular mode have you tried doing it in "Safe Mode with Networking" (tap F8 repeatedly while booting up and it's #2 in the menu).
If that fails then have you tried "Last Known Good Configuration" in that same menu?
There's a good removal guide here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-spyware-protect-2009 - it should work in Safe Mode with Networking.

Thanks so much. I was able to run Malwarebytes anti-malware in safe mode!! I had already had it installed, but couldn't run it. Everything works great!! Thanks again!
Yes, most people don't realise that you can update & run some things in that mode...MBAM included. Glad to help, good luck.
I'd just like to say, running in Safe Mode with Malwarebytes is bad, yes it worked, but it is not recommended by the people at malwarebytes.
Yes, that's because it may detect fewer problems in any of the Safe Modes, but if one can't run it in regular mode then there's no choice. I've seen many PC's (& headaches) saved using that method.
It will update in Safe Mode w/Networking too which is an added advantage.
