Microsoft has just released Vista Service Pack 1 for general download.
Just my opinion here... but if you've got a machine which you can afford to have problems with, run some tests using the downloadable installer..
The key when installing such things is to make sure the computer is clean and functioning well.. Cleanout all the junk files, temporary internet files, and Temp folders. Uninstall any programs you don't use.. Run your antivirus and antispyware scans to be sure everything's clean. And once that's done, run a Defrag and Chkdsk to optimize the drive.
Once that's done, and after waiting a while for any bugs to be mentioned on these forums, then give it a try.. Remember, the tortoise sometimes wins the race.
In addition, if you've already installed any beta or RC installations for SP1, uninstall them first. ____________________
For those interested, SP1 for Vista can be found on Windows Updates or the standalone installer can be downloaded from the link below.. (BROADBAND NEEDED: It's a 435 MB file!)
