ideally we could start off by Running the latest version of stinger and update the logs of the same in next reply
Please note my original post.
"I cannot boot to safe mode, cannot get into Windows. Before this got so ugly, I got a popup that I have a million visus' on the computer & to buy their program. I closed that out and did not accept of try the program.
I downloaded Malware to my thumb trive and went to the boot sequence to boot from that thumb drive but it keeps going into the Windows flag screen, then I briefly see a blue DOS screen at the top, then a delay, then the Windowes flag screen again. This keeps repeating no matter what I do.
Any suggestions how to get it to boot to the thumb drive or fix this mess would be greatly appreciated."
As you see, I cannot get the noteboot either to boot into Windows XP or to the command prompt (either with or without networking). Based on that, I cannot utilize your suggestions but am open to any suggestions short of reformatting.
Also, the link you sent for Stinger did not work.
You would probably have to go into the BIOS by whatever means your motherboard uses and make a USB or removable device the first boot item if that is possible. Not all motherboards allow it but hopefully yours will.
On my board it's the Delete button one presses while booting up to get there, but on yours it could be F1, you would have to check the handbook for your PC or call whomever you bought it from if you are unsure..
Thanks Peter. Unfortunately, I tried that and it would not work.
I am afraid the only solution is to reset to factory specs and reformat.
That's a shame - I've had to do that myself on a number of occasions. The good thing about it is you end up with a nice new clean system.
I agree. And I do not think my wife will learn her lesson to regularly back it up.
Best wishes to you too.
