    Real time protection is off,and won't turn back on

      when i press on it just turns it's self off again right away,and when i start to scan it says an error has occured and to start scan again,but it just keeps coming back to the same thing,can any one help me please?thnk you karen

          Hi Karen,

           

          I have the same problem.

          I had it for a while, than updated my Mobo (MSI) drivers and it worked for a while.  It just happened to me now.

          I get a message that my account is not recognized by the user profile service.

          I then have to use restore. And then MCAFEE realtime is out.

          I narrowed it down that the dat is out of date.  But somehow i cannot get it updated.

          I hpoe MCAFEE reads this!!!

            I have exactly the same problem... also IE8 hangs when starting

            This problem also stops me from Activating the product, updating the Antivirus files, and the firewall fails.

            It seems to be the Mcafee core service "McAfee Services" that fails I think this controls everything else.

             

            McAfee suggested using the removal tool running an microsoft update and reinstalling.. this did not work.

             

            With McAfee uninstalled  IE8 works.

             

            Looks Like McAfee have a problem brewing.

             

            OS: Windows 7 64 bit

            New laptop so should have few conflicts.

              Hi All,

              It happens with most antivirus post a system restore, the software loses all of its current updates thereby making its components to be disabled, So, please run McAfee virutal technician from here : http://mvt.mcafee.com and let it fix  all found issues, also make sure to post back your session id so that I can check the report and narrow down the issue simultaneously.

               

              Along with the above please have a check ;

              Whether there are no other security software running in the machine.

              Check and install any available window update. 

               

              Please let us know the results and we will proceed further.

                Ran the virtual technician this said it would start the service which then stopped again:

                Description: mcafee service starts then stops  immediately.
                unable to activate or update. tried virtual technician which  starts the service then immediately stops again.
                VT your session ID 29413797.    2011 product version 3 user

                 

                Above was call created but no success.

                 

                1. Uninstalled with removal tool
                2. Ran MS updates which included malicious sw removal
                3. re-installed Mcafee from downloaded files
                4. still same problem McAfee Services stopped IE8 not working
                5. removed Mcafee agains IE8 working

                 

                Previous trial software Bullguard was uninstalled prior to the first install of Mcafee

                    I'm having the same problem.

                    The problem I find on virtual tecnician are:

                    Product upgrade required

                    Install directory not found

                     

                    When I ask for additional tecnical support, I get an error messsage

                        When  try to get assistance from the chat function I get this message.

                        An error occured to broker.gotoassist.com

                        SSL received a malformed alert record.

                        Error code: ssl_error_rx_malformed_alert

                         

                        As far as I can get on virtual technician is

                        Security center   9.15.179

                        problem with product upgrade request

                         

                        Site advisor   3.2.153

                        fixed missing/corrupt com components

                         

                        Personal firewall 10.15.106

                        problem with install directory not found in the registry

                         

                         

                        Please help me fix this problem.

                          Hi Elaine,

                           

                          Could you pleae let us know if you are using McAfee products subscribed thorugh your ISP ???

                          Also, provide me with your session id from McAfee virtual teachnician.

                           

                          Please try the below steps and let me know if you were able to get the real time scanner enabled;

                           

                          Check and remove if you have any other security software installed in the machine ?
                          Open Internet explorer - Click on tools -Click on Windows updates and install any available update (Please let us know if you encounter any errors)
                          Run the OAS disabled utility from
                          here and restart the computer /.

                           

                          Check for updates from security center and get back to me with status.
