How to exclude *.zip in removable storage file access rule

    beatles13cfpb

      Hi everybody,

I have Device Control 9.1 installed, and I have a removable storage file access rule. By default, you cannot copy a .zip extension file. I know, that you can create a whitelist, for the applications you want to run from the USB device, but, it don't let me include *.zip, in order to exclude all zip files from this rule. How can I do this ?. I would appreciate any sugestions.

      Thanks,

      Carlos

          Hi Carlos,

Unfortunately, McAfee HDLP does not allow you to specify wildcards in your whitelist for the removable storage file access rule. It's meant for excluding a specific file name such as "unlock.exe", "authorizedarchive.zip", etc.

In one of the future releases, you will be able to configure the removable storage file access rule in a more granular way where you can select which extensions to block. I don't know whether this feature is included in the latest patch or it is pending for 9.5.
