to configure to let Novell work we would need to know exactly what the problem is. This can be manifold: any of the VirusScan modules can affect a certain Novell action and VSE looks like its blocking something.
There must be either trivial signs of what Novell action does not work or corresponding action in one of the VirusScan local logs. Perhaps Novell is creating some events on failure, you could post that here.
Also you could post the VirusScan logs from under %DEFLOGDIR% folder to see if there is anything relevant in either of them. Both types of information could help locate the problem.
