6153 Dat file update fails

I have SecurityCenter 9.15.175, and VirusScan is 13.15.117.   I have tried the Mcafee Virtual Technician, and it says it "Fixed" the problem, but everytime I run it, it says the dat file is OUT of Date, so it doesn't appear to update to the latest dat file 6153.

I am on Windows 7, and the Mcafee program is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee.    I can't tell if my dat file is up to date, or out of date?

I'm still having the "systemguards disabled" problem as well, everytime I enable it, it automatically disables itself.   Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

   Teena

    Hello Teena,

Sorry for the delayed response, could you please provide me the session id details that you obtained after running the  McAfee virtual technician.

Also let us know what is the operating system on the computer ?
How is the computer connected to internet ? (dsl/cable/wireless)
Do you have any other security software installed ?

    Hi Teena,

Could you please check the below and get back to us, this will help us drill down the issue further.

Click on Start - Click on start search and type Run

In the open prompt type the following -  C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Right click on host and select Note pad to open with.

Make sure that your host file of the machine looks like the one below.

    Host file1.JPG

(Any additional entries found could be deleted and save the host file accordingly)

Restart the computer after changes and then try to update McAfee and let me know the status.

    If you are still unable to update McAfee;

Click on start - click on Start search and type cmd

Right click on cmd and select Run as administrator

In command prompt - type : ping download.mcafee.com and let me know the Ip adress that we receive as a reply from.

    Regards,

    Dinesh K
