Well yes you can ? Myself test this with SAMBA Domain Controller. My Clients windows and connect with Samba Server. So i add another windows 2003 machine and install joined like domain member. Now in DLP you find this machine and this machine will fatch your samba users.
Add windows 2003 machine as BDC controller for SAMBA

We don't have any document for that. but we used this setup for many years starting with Windows NT / Integration with Unix 2.2 Services. Recently our team done this with LDAP+SAMBA with Windows Clients. using LDAP Bridge Drive we used windows 2003 machine as backup domain controller. We have mix setup windows/linux clients for windows clients you need CAL licenses . I understand your point
do you have any tutorial for that ?
how to use a windows 2003 as a BDC of a Samba?
