VirusScan Enterprise 8.7i Patch 2 is the first version to provide full support for Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2.
You will need to install V8.7i.
Its the product you need to upgrade, not the engine.
Thanks for the reply. If I install my current version, will it prompt me for an upgrade or do I need to purchase the newer version? I really don't want to upgrade everything because of one Windows 7 machine. If this will prompt me and allow an upgrade it would be great!
You are running the business edition of VirusScan. It will not prompt you to upgrade, it just won't work.
You will need to purchase a newer version - probably the consumer edition.
If you are running VSE 8.5i, please upgrade to VSE 8.7i or alternatively upgrade to VSE 8.8 which should be out by the end of 2010.
See KnowledgeBase article KB60468 - Support Statement for McAfee Products for Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2.
If you have a GRANT number for the current product, you will be able to upgrade free of charge.
Do you have an active Grant number ? I ask this because VSE 8.5 is a business edition software and if you have purchased it, you would have a Grant number, If you have an active Grant number, Please log onto
Enter your Grant number and you will be able to download the version 8.7i alongwith the latest patch 4. Just uninstall 8.5i and then do a clean install of 8.7i and then apply the Patch 4.
You would see that it will work great.
Please let us know if your issue has been resolved.
I have an consumer account for the most recent McAfee Antivirus software but cannot install it b/c I'm prompted to remove the now obsolete Enterprise 8.5i. on my Windows 7 system. It won't uninstall. Any suggestions?
