    Pop up alerts not functioning.....

      Ever since I got an update, my software has changed from the normal to some new spiffier looking format. I get pop up alerts about how I need to check for updates (my updates are checked "off".) The pop up has no functionality. I can't close it, it won't check for updates...nothing. I check the auto update after a restart. S/w checked for updates...now I have yet ANOTHER pop up that tells me my software has been updated....AND IT WON'T close EITHER.

      Two questions:

      How do I fix this s/w bug?

      How do I keep those frakking pop alerts from EVER appearing on my screen? I have everything checked "off" for a reason and I don't EVER want to see McAfee EVER alert me to ANYTHING.

          Hi ,
          Could you please provide us with the following information;
          What is the operating system of the computer ?
          Do you have any other security software installed in the computer ?
          Please provide us with a screen shot of your McAfee security center ?
          Do you receive any pop up in the computer with regards to any virus attack

            Here is a screen shot in MS Word. I'm not too familiar with doing screen shots. This was the easiest way for me to do it. If there is another file format that works better for you, let me know.

            I have a Dell with Windows XP Home Version 2002 Service pack 3 Pentium 4 2.2 GHz. No other security except maybe something I am unaware of from windows, but, nothing I deliberately enabled.

            I have not received any notices about any virus.

              Hi there,

              Please try to perform a windows update and install any important updates that needs to be installed.
              Then, click start run - type the following commands one by one;

                    regsvr32 jscript.dll and press OK
                    regsvr32 vbscript.dll
              and press OK

              Open Internet explorer - Click tools - Click internet options

              Click on the advanced tab and click the reset button.

              Please let us know if you are still facing any issues after following the above steps.
