My pc is a Hewlett-Packard Company m9350f pc with the AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core Processor @ 2.50 GHz, 6 GB Memory (Ram), and the Windows Vista 64-bit Operating System. I am using the McAfee Total Protection program.
Every time I boot or reboot my pc I get a pop-up box displaying the following, "C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS19ED\setup\Status\". I have tried everything I know of to rid myself of this "thorn" in my side but to no avail. I have tried all the cleaner programs I know of and a few I didn't know about. But nothing works. I tried doing the restore option which didn't work. Every tool in the utility file has been used. I can close it with the Task Manager but it is a hassle I just don't need. I have a friend who is the Computer Tech Director for a school district and he has never encountered anything akin to this, neither with a single or a network application. Does anyone know what would get rid of this pop-up?
That sounds like a leftover from the installation of 7-zip (7z) compression utility.
There are some useful guidelines on your thread here: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistaperformance/thread/6b03beb 0-6b05-4a94-a954-c92ec6c3ec5b
Have you tried deleting that file in Safe Mode?
