The only reliable way to prevent this is with the an agent called updatedefibrillator. Support would have to install the agent, but in theory it would take care of the issue going forward until development fully fixes the root cause.
I have seen this also. I just assumed it was doing a virus or TRU update behind the scene. I just wait for that to finish, then come back to it later and I am able to check for updates.
If it is a deeper issue than that, I probably should call it in ;-)
What happens is an update can stop, and the records that it is running are not cleared out. If the update has been running for a long period of time, and there are no hotfix or software upgrades being downloaded, then you may have run into the problem. It usually can't clear on its own once it gets into this state. It was more of a problem on 6.7.1 than it is on 6.7.2, but we still see it on occasion.
I'm having the same problem. I've been trying to check for updates all day, and every time I go to the update page it says Installation of one or more updates is in progress. Fetch request cannot be completed at this time. Do I need to contact support?
Unfortunately this is an issue on the ironmail appliances. When this happens you should call into support and we can resolve the issue rather fast.
The most common cause for this is during the download process the appliance loses connection to the update servers and the install flag can not be reset.
