I have the same problem. But I didn't catch mine until it ran thru my contact list. I cannot get rid of it and McAfee does not find it.
I need help with this! I too have Total Protection...didn't work this time! Is there any way shape or form to correct this? It's an on going problem for me!
I am also having this same problem. This has been going on for several months. I have run McAfee for Verizon Security Center and it finds nothing. I have aslo run "stinger" and also nothing found. I wish someone could tell me how to stop this. The common denominator is the email being sent all refer to a drugs site in Canada.
If there was nothing in your outbox then those aren't referring to emails you sent but are spam phishing emails trying to get you to click on malicious links or open malicious attachments. Either way, you should delete them and perhaps scan using an independant anti-malware application.
A good one is the free version of THIS tool. Update it first and then let it remove anything it finds.
There are emails in my out box that were sent. I deleted all my contacts, and now I am receiving emails from myself. When I check my out box, the emails have been opened without me opening it. How can that be? I see in my in box that I receive an email from myself but it is not opened. I deleted the email without opening it and emptied my trash folder and within 2 hours I get another email from myself. I ran that program that was suggested to me and found 1 malware and 1 trojan which I removed. Any other suggestions to get rid of the pesty bug? Stinger and McAfee have not found anything to date.
What operating system and service pack is this by the way?
