    Move SQL to another drive

    Isagel

I'm upgrading from ePO 4.0 to 4.5 but need to free up space on my C drive before upgrading.  I'm using SQL Server Management Studio Express with SQL 2005 express, hope that makes sense.

Anyone have any experience moving this to another drive or know if it can be done without messing everything up?  I was going to uninstall it and then re-install it on another drive and then re-attach the DB instance.

If you wish to move SQL itself to another drive you will need to uninstall/reinstall SQL.

If you wish to move the ePO DB to another drive you need to do this:

          1. Backup the ePO DB (precaution)
          2. Detatch the ePO DB from the SQL server (R-click on DB name in SQL Enterprise manager | Tasks | Detach)
          3. Physically move the .mdf and .ldf files for the ePO DB to whatever location you would like them to reside
          4. Attach the .mdf and .ldf file in the new location to your SQL Server (R-click on Databases in SQL Enterprise Manager | Attach)
