VirusScan 6.0 for UNIX on Sun Solaris 10 SPARC starts very slowly.
After doing some experiments simply running uvscan --version takes almost 2 minutes on SUN Solaris 10 SPARC platform
The box has plenty of horsepower and memory.
One of the suggestions on the discussion forum is to run uvscan --decompress so that the DAT files are decompressed ahead of time.
Once you do the decompress the uvscan --version still takes about 1 (one) minute which is still to slow to make it usable for real-time applications.
I am sure people have found a faster way to spin up uvscan. Too bad you cannot run it as a daemon on Solaris systems.
