The best thing to do in this case is to uninstall completely via Control Panel/Programs/Uninstall a Program
Then run the MCPR removal tool listed under Useful Links above and reboot.
Reinstall your software from your online account.
We usually advise people to update as soon as they have used SR but in actual fact McAfee advises to uninstall first and then reinstall afterwards.

Everyone has. Direct subscribers of course have one anyway. Anyone else gets one as soon as they activate their software.
Where did you get McAfee from? Direct, your ISP or an institution?
It came with my computer a little over a year ago. 3 year coverage.
I'm honestly not computer illiterate, but I can't figure this out so I need some help.
I log on and go to "Security Center" and it just asks me to buy McAfee.
I open up my McAfee program and go to "My Account" and it brings me back to this account.
I need to figure out how to register my product if I didn't do that when I got my computer. And if I did, I need to figure out how to access that.
