Enable Boot Manager.
Would you please clarify how to enable the boot manager, is it from the bios?, my laptop model is hp 6530b
You will find this option in Machine's Properties on EEM
Excuse me but I don't know what is "EEM" and how can I access it?, I have setup as I said windows vista and windows 7 on the same drive with vista being the main OS on the first partition, I work in hp company and we are asked to install the mcafee endpoint encryption software. I already tried to install windows 7 after installing windows vista that was already encrypted but unfortunately vista became not visible so I started all over again and installed windows vista and windows 7 before encrypting the hard drive, I have these questions that I just need an answer to them:
1-Is dualboot affected after installing the mcafee endpoint encryption SW on vista?
2-Where can I find the "enable boot manager" option in mcafee endpoint SW, would appreciate a screen shot if possible
3-Shall I encrypt the whole drive even the partition of windows 7 and this would not affect it in working properly (windows 7 doesn't have any encryption SW installed on it)
Sorry for writing all this but I already suffered from reinstalling my OSs so thats why I am worried in order not to repeat this process again.
Enable McAfee EEPC Boot Manager.
You need to install EEPC Client software successfuly in both OS-es PRIOR to enabling disk encryption. Disk encryption policy is controlled by Endpoint Encryption Manager, that is a management server console application, that is used to manage endpoints (clients).
Read related documentation to get a grasp of MEE architecture.
Thanks all for your help but it seems that at the end I'll sadly roll back every thing I have done, I found out that HP's security policy doesn't allow/support dual boot PCs and I have tried it myself but the Mcafee boot login screen doesn't show up while there is multiple OS, it seems that HP has tailored the Mcafee Endpoint Encryption differently since I don't see the Endpoint manager installed anywhere in my system in the other hand I only see an icon of Mcafee in the taskbar which has very few options.
In that case please specify exact name and version of the product, that you are using.
Did you used safeboot from HP Tools suite?
I think that not supported by hp & safeboot/mcafee for recovery.
The "Drive Encryption for HP Protecttools" product is very different from "SafeBoot" (last seen in 1999) and "McAfee Endpoint Encryption for PCs" - it's very different indeed.
and as others have said, no, it does not support dual boot. I guess you could fool it into working though if you're using the windows OS manager - you'd need to install DEPT in both OS's before enabling encryption.
I've never tried it, but I don't see why it would not work.
