    Hello Steven,

    mswsock.dll is a module providing extensions for Winsock. Services provided by this file are not part of Winsock. May I know whether are you using any wireless routers for internet  connectivity. Also let me know the following information;

    What is the operating system of the computer ?
    Is the computer uptodate with Microsoft windows updates?
    Was the computer infected by any virus or malware ?
    What is the version of DAT in security center ?

    Moving thread to virus scan 14 - 2010

    Hello there ,

    Open McAfee security center and click Navigation at the top
    In the next screen , click the option About
    Report back with the version of virus scan and DAT

    Also , restart the computer and start tapping the F8 key
    From the advanced boot options menu, select safe mode,

    After you get to you desktop, Right click on McAfee and try running a scan in safe mode

    Note : In safe mode , you might get a prompt from mcAfee that its at risk, do not worry , security software is just disabled in safe mode

    Hi Stanley,

    Open security center , click Real tme scanning.
    Click Scan your PC – From the scan type select Custom scan
    From custom scan options ; Put a check mark on the option Scan using minimal resources (as shown in pic)

    Also uncheck the option, Exclude ZIP and other compressed files.
