Do raw performance benchmarks show equally good speed of both drives? What is disk idle% perfmon statistics when you encrypt?
Tried to set up a perfmon for PhysicalDisk [0 C:D:]\% Idle time.
I get an error that the test log or alert has not started. Strange when it works on my dektop but not on any of our laptops.
Why are you setting perfmon for physical disk 0?
You said that you have performance issues on second hard drive, so that should be physical disk 1.
I meant to say that the M6500 is set up as follows:
0 C partition (Main drive)
1 D partition (Second drive)
It won't let me run a perfmon test.
I thought that you had both partitions (C: and D:) on physical drive 0.
How your disks look in Disk Management?
The M6500 has two drives:
Drive 0 is the main drive (C: partition)
Drive 1 is the second drive (D: partition)
Sorry for the confusion. This is our only model with two drives. Out other laptop models have 1 drive with two partitions on it.
the crypt process is limited by the RW speed of the drive - I guess in your case you have some hardware problem with the 2nd drive. As peter says - what's the raw performance benchmark of the two drives - is it compariable?
We have ruled out the problem is drive related. We have ran tests with multiple machines with the same type drives in them. We ran two tests with each drive intalled as a primary and secondary drive and have had the same results. Every time it starts to encrypt the secondary drive the time to finish is 50-60 hours.
must be the motherboard then I'm afraid.
