so the Mcafee agent policy on the epo server is set not to show the agent in the taskbar?
thanks for the reply tony
the policy on the server does not show the agent icon
the installation im talking about is "local"
i mean, our help desk can get the agent + vse from a share on the network
and do a manual install on systems.
when they finish the install of the agent the icon is shown
(later it will dissapear when the agent is talking to the epo server and getting policies)
but we want to disable the icon before that.
If you do a custom install of VSE, you can choose not to display the tray icon - this should do what you want, I believe
again guys thanks for the replies
i created a custom VSE install using installation designer 8.7
(you can choose not to display the VSE icon but i dont have an issue with VSE just the agent)
i missed some information i hope my explaination will be clearer:
we currently have a EPO 4 machine with MA 4
we are in the process of moving all systems to a new EPO 4.5 with MA4.5
on the old systems when help desk installed the agent the icon was not shown
(during install and also by the assigend policy)
on the new system the icon is shown during the install - just when the policies get DL'ed
the icon disappears (as defined in the policy)
so just for the initial install of the agent if there is a way to diasable the icon?

Ah - this might be down to the installation order. If you install the agent by itself, it will display the icon - but if you install VSE first (set to not display the icon) and then install the agent, I think that you'll find that the icon stays hidden.
ha - we use the installation order as suggested
first agent then VSE
never thought about it doing it the other way arround
anyway i guess there is nothing we can do about it as showing the icon seems to be by design
its just a "cosmetic" issue
thank's for the help
much kudos joe
