I guess it "works as intended" , no big deal it just allows programs to connect to the internet without asking me
I have found in my past experience that unless you have a better understanding of some of the logic that is written into some of these security programs that it is best to utilize the default settings that are automatically set when the software is installed. You can change certain settings and it won't change how the program runs, but it you adjust the firewall settings, you may get undesirable results. You can always go in to review your program permissions and if you don't feel a program needs full access you can change it to outgoing only access. Believe me if firewall detects something it doesn't like it will prompt you for a decision to allow it or deny it.
How to change the Firewall Smart Advice:
Open McAfee Security Center
Click on Firewall from the main window and click on settings.
Click on Restore Defaults to clear the current program permission.
Expand the drawer ‘Smart Advice and Advanced Settings’
Set the Smart Advice to ‘Ask me to decide’.
Click on Apply button.
This will prompt you to for giving permission.
