scheduled - selective - robocopy job?
Anymore detail on how to set this up?
Assuming you have more than about 50 nodes on the ship a local repository will require less replication for daily DAT's than having each of the clients check in over the air to the mainland. You can limit was items in the repository are replicated, so you might want to lmit it to content. Schedule the patches and product updates at a time you can use up bandwidth to the local repository.
I have assumed that you have at least one repository in your HQ on the mainland. I am also assuming that you would be able to reach that server via file sharing.
You would set up a mainland_mirror.CMD file on your computer or one of the ship's server with the following content then:
The mainland_mirror.rcj content would be like this:
(see attached file).
Schedule mainland_mirror.cmd to run off peak hours.
Robocopy is a MS tool, available on MS website.
If you do not have any repository to mirror from on the mainland, then you could use a free web file copy utility.
