Programmatically check the Buffer Overflow DAT version

Is there a way to programmatically check the Buffer Overflow DAT version?

We are converting to VirusScan Enterprise 8.7i with Patch 2 in a Windows XP and Windows 7 evnironment.  My department handles workstation installations.

There are registry entries for the AV Engine and DAT files.  Is there one for the Buffer Overflow DAT?  What is it?  If not, is there another way to find it programmatically?

I am looking for a way to report it to Microsoft SCCM without using the ePolicy Orchestrator.

      Thanks in advance.
