I am new to programming and have hit a brick wall.
I need to leave a registry value blank.
HKLM\Software\McAfee\VSCore\PreferredLanguage which is a REG_SZ file type.
The current value of this registry key is a square character which causes problems when McAfee 8.7 tries to talk to the EPO server. Leaving this Registry key blank fixes the problem.
The fix is to remove the square character but I have to do this on every machine on our network.
I just need to add a line to our logon scripts to remove the value so there is nothing there.
Can anyone help I am sure this is just one line of code that is easy for most people here.
Create a reg file called vscore.reg containing the following info:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
(after the equals sign there is a hyphen)
Then add this to your logon script- or GPO startup script called from a batch file - you would need to test if it ran Ok first
(this is what we use in a GPO startup script- so command line for running from login script may differ)
regedit /s vscore.reg
Do you users have rights to edit the registry- I'm not sure if this would work- you could always create a GPO startup script which is what we do with bulk reg mods.
info for reg editing :
on 31/03/10 06:37:54 CDT
The VBS script did not work for some reason so I just connected to every machine and changed the reg key.
This has now been Answered thanks everyone for your help.
