Registry Mechanic errors on McAfee Total Protection

Basic System information:  Windows XP Professional w/ service pack 3

Registry Mechanic detects 6 errors it is unable to correct relating to McAfee software. All are considered "High Priorty" errors affecting my computer's system health. I have removed McAfee Total Protection twice and re-downloaded it. When McAfee software is removed the errors disappear, and re-appear when downloaded.  The computer is really slowed, I believe, by these errors, and sometimes does NOT boot up properly (seems to get stuck in booting up McAfees).

Here are the error messages:

High Priority: Highlighted value is missing or invalid

High Priority: Highlighted value is missing or invalid

High Priority: Highlighted value is missing or invalid

High Priority: Highlighted value is missing or invalid

High Priority: Highlighted value is missing or invalid

High Priority: Highlighted value is missing or invalid

I have run McAfee's online technical diagnostic tools with the result being "no problems".

I have chatted with someone from McAfee's technical services, online.  He (I think it was a he) told me it is not a McAfee problem, contact Registry Mechanic. I was not going to argue with him; however, it only occurs when McAfee's Total Protection is loaded on my computer (DUH). When McAfee's Total Protection is removed, no errors exist, and the speed is terriffic.

Can anyone help?

Could you please confirm when actually the error appears, Is it when you run the registry mechanic ?
Also let us know what is the Ram size of the computer and processor ?
How old is the computer ?
Confirm whether the system has any other security software installed ?

I was wondering if there was any further response to this issue as I am also experiencing it.

After running Registry Mechanic, 7 errors relating to McAfee Total Protection remained and could not be repaired.

The PC is a Dell Dimension 8400 - about 6 years old, 1 GN RAM - Windows XP SP3

You mentioned you have previously uninstalled the software. I  wonder if you know about the MCPR removal tool located at the top of this page under Useful Links? It is used in addition to the normal uninstall via Add/Remove programs to clean out any remnants that remain behind that fail to remove otherwise.

Make sure you are up to dates with all of your Microsoft updates. Are you running Internet Explorer 8?

Try contacting Chat again and ask them to escalate this. Post the chat id here, so that Dinz or Bala can see and follow through. Maybe ExBrit or Peacekeeper will chime in and try to offer something else to help you.

Stop using Registry Mechanic.  If it just removed orphaned entries it would be fine but it invariably removes important stuff along with the trash.

Believe me, I learned that from bitter experience.  They promise you that your machine will work like lightning afterwards, well, maybe like 2% faster, but not everything else will work.

In Registry Mechanic there is a restore function, I suggest you try that.   If things don't improve after a reboot then try using System Restore to before it happened and update McAfee immediately afterwards.

    Same here.

    I just purchased a Lenovo Y560 8 days ago. Running Win7 Home Prem,IE8, i7, 8gb ram, 500gb HDD.

Registry Mechanic comes up with 16 loose ends for McAfee in Registry every time.

McAfee is an OEM install with Lenovo, so tying up loose ends on a new purchase lies with one or the other of the two.

    Reg Mech has been superb.

I'm pasting in log to show what is hanging for McAfee to attend to. No need for any reply from anyone.

Software needs tidying up is all.

I agree so agree with Ex_brit. You should stop using that software, you're trading everything else for a slight boost of pc speed. Besides, I honestly think mcafee is one of the most reliable software I had. Well, not for the errors at least. Like other things, I also encounter mcafee errors at times, but I'm able to fix them in 5 ways including restarting pc, checking for updates, disabling other antivirus programs that might be causing conflicts, cleaning the registry and reinstalling mcafee.
