If you bring up Task Manager, which process is consuming the most CPU. Is it apache.exe, eventparser.exe or tomcat.exe?
We had a similar problem a few weeks ago where the eventparser.exe was consuming over 50 to 60% of our server cpu. This was caused by several clients that were sending thousands of those 1092 event alerts to the server. This was caused by a McAfee bug that we fixed due to a custom access protection rules.
The biggest user of the CPU is the System process any help would be much appreciated.
Never experienced the "System" process consuming high cpu. Just one question, what version of McAfee VirusScan is on the server? Searching the knowledgebase led me to KB58296, which refers to VirusScan 8.0i TDI driver causing the system process to spike the cpu. It was fixed using the latest VSE patches.
You can try downloading the program called process monitor from Microsoft. It will allow you to filter on the "system" process and see what it is doing and maybe give you some clues. You can download from the link below:
Best of luck.
I just patched the EPO server to patch 3 for 8.7.0i, and it seemed to help a little bit.
