Real Time scanning is recommended to be ticked on and anytime you browse the internet or an update from McAfee is being downloaded it is scanning as it is supposed to do to ensure that the download is clean. I am assuming the regular scheduled scan which I believe the default is Friday mornings at 4:00am is the scan you have turned off.
Thnnks for the fast reply - do not have any scans set to run - only after downloads of updates does it say running scan - it there anyway I can correct this
Not sure what to suggest next other than Technical Support Chat found in the Useful Links at the top of this page.
So this is a full scan being started by itself with scheduled scan set to off? What version of Mcafee Total Protection have you?
BTW K3Tg's suggestion of contacting Chat is a good idea as well
Thanks for the reply - Have tried to find out version of Total Protection - purchased last year - subscription is to be renewed in July - 2010
Open security centre
if 2009 version go to bottom right corner and click on Details(or about) Post versions of security centre and Virusscan.
If 2010 go to top right and click on Navigation and then left side click on about.
Can you confirm the scan question I made
Thanks for the info - I saw that and thought something was wrong with all the different versions -
Here is info
Security Centre - Ver 9.15 - build 9.15.175
Virus scan - Ver 13.15 - build 13.15.116
Thanks for any help
Is this happening every day or just when it downloads a new patch?
Do you get your Mcafee from a purchased subscription or a Mcafee Partner such as Dell?
Thanks again for the reply - I purchase yearly from McAfee - and it happens everyday when there is an update!!!!!
