Can you please clarify and follow the steps suggested bellow
How do you connect to the internet (DSL, cable or Dial-up)?
Did you made any recent changes to the system (Computer)?
What is the version of internet net explorer (IE) you use?
Tried to ping the McAfee site (Start- click on Run-Type CMD-type Ping download.mcafee.com) post the Ip address you receive.
Run Windows Update [open Internet Explorer – click on tools-internet option]. Install all the critical updates available
I'm having the same problem. I also can't access virtual tech. I was hit with a virus and loaded avg to scan. got rid of everything it found but still can't download. I pinged mcafee and the ip was 127.0.0.1. I'm running ie9 on adsl line.

Well my connection is wireless. No recent changes to my computer. I;m using IE 7. Windows XP operating system.
When downloading I hit downlaod under my account,
hit i agree for license
hit dmsetup - run
dms setup.ex run
and then nothing happens. no program to download etc.
So kinda getting frustrated as I am following all suggested steps that have been suggests. Which I appreciate, but really want this to work.
Your not getting a valid download ip address rather what you receive is a loop -back address.
It could be a spyware that is blocking the installation , Please follow the instruction provided here and try installing again.
