did you install the epo 4.5 as a named instance?
btw try to enable tcp/ip en named pipes.
plus make sure the services are running.
If you need more help let me know what kinda services are running and what message you get.
Plus you can check this to install somewere a sql management studio on one of your pc's, see if he sees the instance.
If you mean, did I install the SQL 2005 Express as a named instance, I just did that now (apparently you have to UNCHECK the box for "Hide Advanced Options". McAfee doesn't mention this in their KB52109
Anyway, I did that, the services ARE started because I can connect to them with the SQL manager, but when I run the EPO 4.5 install it says that the NT Authentication checkbox is disabled and lists about 7 or 8 different reasons why.
I then get to the spot (I believe the 2nd screen after the license agreement) where the EPO 4.5 install wants me to select the Database server, and I do not see my server/database on the list to choose it.
Not sure you done this, but check quick if you done the SQL Server 2005 Surface Area,
click there on SQL server 2005 surface Area Configuration.
make sure the using both tcp/ip and named pipes are selected.
Let me know if that worked.
I did get it to install.
I manually typed in the server\database name, then waited for it to timeout with a connection error.
At that point, it let me fill in the connection port, so I did that (I used the value as noted in step 5 in section 3 of that KB article, where you look at the dynamic ports thingy in the IPALL section).
Then it seemed to go okay (well it's still installing so I'm assuming it's going okay)
After it finishes, I'll check your surface area section thingy.
Thanks for pointing out the discrepancy...we are having the KB modified to include the detailed steps.
