Does it always bring you to the same site when you search? If so, could you let us know what is the site that it is redirecting you to? It's either a change in your browser's defualt search provider or else it could be an injected process that is redirecting you to that site. Firstly, try to see what site it is redirecting. Next try to clear out your cache and check your default search provider in your web browser.
Hope this helps.
One other thing you can try is to download SuperAntiSpyware and run it. It's free and sometimes it picks up things that others miss. I've been hit so often lately that I'm running Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware and McAfee. I usually run one or two scans a day, varying the program(s) that I run.
I ran SuperAntiSpyware as well and it showed an "adware cookie" and "Rootkit" virus. I have quarantined and removed both.
However, the problem still persists.
It redirects to different pages everytime and sometimes to other search engines ,such as "Ask-Jeeves". I also get redirected to pages flagged as "Red" by Mcafee site advisor and hence dont wait for the page to load.
I have cleared my cache as well; however where can i check my default browser settings?
In IE go to Tools->Internet Options. In the "Advanced" tab click Reset button, that should delete all the "viral" settings.
Try this other free tool as well.
First, download the rkill program from the link below. Download the rkill files to your desktop. Once there, run one and if it doesn't run correctly, run another. You only need to run one of them if it runs correctly.. Be patient.... as a black window should open, then close after finding all the background programs. It should shut down all background programs and make the viruses/malware easier to remove correctly.. After running rkill, DO NOT restart the computer but download the Malwarebytes tool below:
Next, download, install, update, then run a full system scan with both Malwarebytes and SuperAntispyware. Now restart the computer and run repeated scans with both tools till nothing is found.
