We found the same issue with laptops in docking stations with a certain model of USB keyboard attached to the docking station. Our fix was simple: replace the keyboards with a brand we knew worked. Fortunately it was only a dozen or so. Doesn't sound like you're quite so lucky. You try Dell BIOS update?
ok thanks for the info but these are just standalone laptops, I'll look into a bios update
We experienced this with EEPC 5.1.3 and I believe 5.1.6 as well.
Honestly, I never noticed to check it with EEPC 5.2.3
