The first place I checked was FAQ, and found that solution for Vista. I do NOT have Vista, I have XP. I did a search for those terms anyway, just in case it would work for XP, but nothing was found. I need a fix for XP please.
I'm bumping this up again in the hopes that somebody will be able to help me. This problem continues and I don't know how to resolve it. I have XP, and the solution suggested for vista does not apply to XP, I tried it.
Try to contact technical support chat so that they would be able to trace out the exact error, if neccessary they will initiate a remote session and help you.
I too have windows XP and began receiving that error message on startup. I contacted tech support and they suggested I uninstall and reinstall McAfee. That did not help! I kept getting the error message on start up.
Several days later, I was looking at the startup programs in MSCONFIG to disable any un-necessary program to help speed up my computer. I ran across this - McAfee Data Backup, so I unchecked it and rebooted. The error message has not appeared again!
To recap: Start > Run > msconfig > uncheck McAfee Data Backup and reboot.
I figured since that feature is no longer available in the Security Center, what harm could I do by disabling it? If anyone knows differently, please let me know why I should enable it again.
Hope this helps!
