    agent handler doesn't appear

    mcdave

      Hi

We're using epo 4.5 and successfully installed 1 agent handler.

Now we want to add a second agent handler, I installed the agent handler software successfully
but it doesn't show up in our epo management console as agent handler?

Any clues what could be wrong? are there any logfiles I can check? ...

In the event log I see following Event:

      Source: Apache Service

      Event ID 3299

The Apache service named  reported the following error:
      >>> [Fri Dec 11 17:29:27 2009] [notice] Disabled use of AcceptEx() WinSock2 API     .

      In the eventparser.log:

          Hi...

This would imply that the agent handler is not able to reach the SQL server. When an agent handler is installed, by default it gets its information about the SQL server from the ePO server. However it may be that the SQL server cannot be resolved from the agent handler machine.

Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the agent handler. On the "ePolicy orchestrator server information" page, uncheck the "use ePO server's database credentials" checkbox. When you click next you will now be given an additional screen to define the SQL server's information: ensure you enter the sql server name in a form that can be resolved from the agent handler (maybe as an FQDN, maybe as an IP address) and then complete the install.

          Does that help?

          Regards -

          Joe

            Hi Joe

That is the last thing I tried using the ip address for both eposerver & SQL server.

During the installation it even tries to connect before it continues to install.
If the servername can't be resolved or I use wrong credentials the installation refuses to continue.

              The Agent Handler suddenly appeared?
              Nothing done???

              • 4. Re: agent handler doesn't appear

I'm having this exact problem.  Suddenly, two of my previously working Agent Handlers (Out of 16 total handlers) have stopped working, and are showing the same error in their log files. Reinstalling has made no difference - although I'll retry the installs with unsetting the 'Use epo database settings'.
