Sounds like there are still some remnants around from the uninstall. I'd recommend reviewing the article at http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507. You'll want to follow Steps 2 and 3 in the document:
Step 2 - Download and run MCPR.exe
Step 3 - Reinstall your McAfee Products
