I have the same problem, I am running windows XP service pack 2 3.00 GHz and 1 GB ram
Whenever I plug my system with internet or network, Mcshield.exe CPU usage goes to 97% and my system getting slow.
Anyone can help me, any solution without reinstalling McAfee?

Usually Mcsheild takes a lot a CPU if there is a possibility of a virus infection or a virus trying to infect the computer. Run a mcafee full scan additionally you can also scan the computer using malware bytes.

Still the same problem, I did a full scan nothing found, and I am sure there is no virus on my computer, I think there must be file corrupted on McAfee directory,
Is there any virtual technician for McAfee total protection?

But I have already removed McAfee, maybe reinstallation solve my problem. Because McAfee Virtual Technician 5.5 log file was showing more than 21 file missing in my McAfee directory.
I will let you know if I face again the same problem after reinstalling.
