Kindly perform the following steps:
Open the control panel > Add / Remove programs > if there is any other security software installed, uninstall them.
Restart the computer.
1. Click Start and select Search.
2. In the Search box, type CMD and click OK
3. In the command prompt, type REGSVR32 JSCRIPT.DLL and press ENTER.
4. After the confirmation message is displayed, type REGSVR32 VBSCRIPT.DLL and press ENTER.
5. Close the command prompt,
Open the Internet explorer > Click on Tools > Click on Windows Update and update the windows.
Restart the computer and try to download the Mcafee products.
In addition to that you can also try downloading the Mcafee products in safe mode with networking.

It didn't work. I don't know exactly whats going on. For some reason it doesn't ask me for the serial code. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
Please try to do the following steps:
Try downloading the pre-install tool in the desktop screen and Run the tool and restart the computer.
Make sure that you Windows in up to date. (Open the Internet explorer > Click on Tools > Click on Windows Update and update the windows including the optional update)

I am NOT expert, but I have used McAfee for 5 years now. When I went from AOL McAfee to Comcast McAfee, I had the same problems that you are describing.
I tried the removal tool, I tried downloading in safe mode, and did everything short of complete reinstall.
I went thru the program on "my computer" and I found 2 folders, the were from McAfee software, and they were EMPTY, (so the removal tool done its job), I deleted the 2 empty folders and made sure there no McAfee or ANY OTHER security software on my computer.
Then I did the install and everything went perfect.
Just check your programs to make sure there is no empty folders or any other security software.
McAfee is the best as far as I am concerned, and to me it well worth the extra work in order to get it installed

I was actually thinking out loud and thought that "Lost" might be over looking just one thing...
Like I have said before. I like McAfee very much...it has been good to me.
