    Disabling McAfee

      Hi all

Newbie to this forum so first I will say Hello to you all.

A quick question about disabling McAfee. I have Internet Security Suit 9 running on my laptop. (Windows XP SP3).

I used to be able (with previous versions of McAfee) to turn McAfee off in order to play games from cd. This freed up a lot of resources and my games ran smoother.

With this version running in the background it uses resources all the time.

Is there a way of disabling McAfee without having to uninstall?

      Cheers in anticipation

Yes you can disable the various components, VirusScan, Firewall etc., but Security Center 9 is geared to throttle back when gaming mode is detected anyway. Have you tried the game anyway?

          To disable do the following:

Double-click the taskbar icon to open Security Center
          Click Advanced Menu (bottom left)
          Click Configure (left)
Click Computer & Files (top left)
You can disable VirusScan in the right-hand module and tell it for how long.

Click Internet & Network (top left)
You can disable Firewall in the right-hand module and tell it for how long.

Many thanks Ex_Brit for your speedy reply.

I'll try next time I run the game and let you know if I get any performance increase.

            Thanks again
