I'm not McAfee staff, they may be able to help you better, but I have a few suggestions.
McAfee uses IE to update or install. You can use another browser for surfing.
For the purpose of solving this problem, try setting the security settings of IE at default. (Btw, which version (beta ?) do you use ? )
You could also try temporarily uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling later.
If this does not work, you can try running Ieregfix.bat, which can be found elsewhere on this forum ('search') and which supposedly fixes things related to IE.
If this doesn't work you'd probably have to contact Comcast or draw some attention from McAfee staff on this forum.
I Use IE 7 the default from Windows Vista. On my Other Computers I Use the Same. However my "backup" computer uses XP with Windows Internet Explorer 8 RC. I searched for it however I cannot acess http://download.mcafee.com to acess it! My PC is clean and not Hijacked. Plus I cannot get into download.mcafee.com on ANY of my computers D:. Plus How do I draw attention from Mcafee?
Can someone from Mcafee Please Help me I'm in need of serious help. I have seen that EX-Brit has helped many people many you could try nd help me?
Check your machines for spyware using the free versions of these two tools and let them delete anything they find:
As McAfee relies on Internet Explorer working correctly please go to IE/Tools/Internet Options/Advanced and click the Reset button, then Apply and OK. Close and re-open IE and re-enable the add-ons under Tools/Manage Add-ons.
On the machine with IE8 , I trust by RC you mean IE8 final version? Treat that the same way. If it isn't the final version then uninstall it and reinstall the final version or go with IE7.
Go to this link for Comcast McAfee downloads: http://security.comcast.net/
There is 24/7 Technical Support available through the link at top left of this page or in my signature.
Thank you for replying. However I cannot open the second link you gave me only the first. Also, I will install Super AntiSpyware, But this is a clean version of Windows as i just installed it yesterday. However I will try your suggestions. Wish me Luck!!:)
I CANNOT download SuperAnti Spyware! I Get something similar to a 404 Error! I cannot even acess the malware remover website that you gave me. This happens on all my computers D:! Moreover, On My Other Computers I cannot even Update Mcafee. I have scanned them and there is nothing wrong. Also, I was able to download Trend Micro Security for a free 30 days just for protection but anything else I cannot. It seems as though something is blocking me from getting any anti-virus software throughout my home internet. Is that possible?
Re: Trend Micro, don't ever try running two anti-virus scanners simultaneously as that can actually cause infection as they may cancel each other out.
Malware often causes these problems so can you access those links in "Safe Mode with Networking" (reached by tapping F8 repeatedly while booting up)?
If so save the downloads to your desktop and rename them just in case the malware doesn't like them.
Reboot into normal mode and run them.
Otherwise the best solution is to post a Hijackthis log on an independent malware forum and have them suggest a course of action.
Do not post the log here, we can't help!
Post the logs at a specialist Forum:
BLEEPING COMPUTER FORUM
GEEKS TO GO FORUM
MAJOR GEEKS FORUM
MALWARE REMOVAL FORUM
SPYWARE INFO FORUM
WHAT THE TECH FORUM
Be sure to read all the sticky announcements/instructions at the top of each malware forum!
Downloading in safe-mode does not work either. And I am not running two anti-virus the trend micro is in place of mcafee which I cannot download. I do not think Hijack This will help but I will try. Any other suggestions?:(
Posting the Hijackthis log will enable them to check if anything is on your machine that shouldn't be.
The only other suggestion I have is Technical Support Chat.
