C'mon guys. Surely I'm not the only one getting this pop-up?
Sorry we are all volunteers here and can't get to everyone, let alone as fast as people would wish.
Can you run the Virtual Technician linked in my signature and post the session ID please?
I will then ask a Technician to take a look.
I've never seen such prompts.
Another question, are these pop-ups occurring when you haven't been siged in at the due scheduled scan time?
Might be an idea to check for malware using the free version of these two tools. Update before running them and reboot if asked to.
Thank you for the reply and I appreciate your assistance.
In answer to your question, my PC is always signed-in to my account at the scheduled scan time, and the scans do actually run.
I have run the Virtual Technician and the session ID is 20677488.
It discovered one fixable Registry Entry problem and the log said an expected registry key value was not present. The last part of the affected key name is "\Configuration SuspendTimeout".
I requested VT to fix that problem.
I will now wait to see if that addresses the symptom I reported.
OK I've flagged it. Meanwhile if you need to speed things up there is always Technical Support Chat at top left of the page.
I'll have to ask one of the techs to look at this thread as I'm out of ideas. Unless of course you contact Technical Support, they may be able to sort it out.
Did you run the two malware software programs Peter suggested.
I also never seen this in 7 years here.
Out of interest where did you get your mcafee , is it retail version or supplied by an ISP/dell etc?
Ok seems this is a free tool mcafee gives out maybe see if there is a disable option
http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6132_102-0.html?threadID=199909 has removal ideas plus a worry it is fake. The 1st link is flagged green by Siteadvisor that is why I assume it is Ok Peter and I will Check
Thank you for the information.
I purchased and installed my version of McAfee some years ago.
I have uninstalled McAfee Security Scan.
I have recently updated Adobe Flash player and it seems from what I read in one of those links you provided that this security scan thing was bundled with that update.
Okay, hopefully that's the end of this matter.
At this stage I can only suggest Technical Support Chat - link at top left of this page.
